We stood waiting in the Grand hall of a huge, beautiful marble, granite and quartz palace, my sister, half-sister and I. We were werewolves. Two of us had white fur; the other had earthen brown fur. Myself, I had white fur, with silver highlights in it, with brilliant blue eyes. My half-sister, Amandia, also had white fur, but her eyes were a rich beautiful green, like the shady leaves of a maple in summer. Her tail did end up tipped with black, it made her different. That leaves Shewolf, my baby sister, the one who was destined to rule, she was gifted the fur the color of raw earth, the color of rich planting soil, that gorgeous red brown, auburn , or amber brown. Her eyes were dirt brown as she would say, but that dirt brown was lighted with flecks of molten gold. I should introduce myself my name is Moro, I was the oldest of the three princesses of the Moon Goddess, and I was entitled as Shewolfs' bodyguard, and advisor. This is our story.
Chapter 1
We were awaiting our Mother, Luna, the goddess of the Night to come down from her High silver tower. She always went to her tower after the sun set on Gaia, what is now known as Earth, to ensure all was well.
“Moro do you think this could be a prank? I mean were just waiting for mother to come down.” Amandia asked.
“Mother wouldn’t make us wait for nothing.” I responded rather distantly, not looking up from my book.
The sound of dainty silken shoes wrapped around dainty feet, walking down a marble staircase reached our sensitive ears.
“Amandia, can you take Shewolf, and leave Moro, your father and I alone to talk for a moment? Then I’ll talk with you two.” Mother asked gently. I should tell you Mother was, and still is the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever seen. She was about five foot tall, with hair as black as the night sky down to her ankles; her eyes were a soft and warm blue. Her skin was as pale as a lily. She always smelled like a spring rain, and lilies. In all my years I have yet to find anyone that matched her beauty.
“Moro chases us down, and dragged us here, and now you’re asking us to leave? Shish!” Amandia said with a little huff
It wasn’t hard to see that she wasn’t happy.
“Go on Amandia. Moro is wise, indeed she is. Now we don’t need you two getting lost, stay close.” Father said as he walked up behind me. How do I describe father -- tall dark and handsome. He was a good foot and a half taller than mother. His hair was black, much darker than mothers, and his eyes were a molten gold. His skin was tan, and he always smelled of blood, sweat and hard work. He was a strong man; one would just look at him and see it. I unfortunately was destined to take over his place as the goddesses’ bodyguard, and advisor. So he had me training with him, what little time I wasn’t training I tried to spend with my sisters.
“Father! I didn’t hear you coming!” I felt ashamed as I looked up from my book to look at him.
“Moro, don’t worry about it.” He said giving me a hug. This was one of the few times where my father would actually give me any physical contact outside of training.
“Go play but stay close.” Mother said to Amandia and Shewolf.
With another exasperated sigh Amandia picked up our sweet Shewolf, who at this time was still young, so she was still a little bit of a fuzz ball, and carried her outside of the room to play in the gardens.
“Moro your Mother and I have a question to ask you.” Father said once Amandia had closed the cherry doors behind her
“So we have to ask now, Airtimes? She’s not ready yet.” Mother wined
“Luna, its time she –“Father started
I’d only just a few days before gotten home from Ittica. And mother wanted me to be home a bit longer before I was sent off again.
“You’re sending me away again aren’t you?” I butted in “I just got back from Ittica. It’s only been a few days and already your sending me off again? Where are you sending me this time?”
“Your needed on Gaia…and you’ll be gone for months” father replied.
“Months?!” mother and I both exclaimed
“I’m needed here!” I argued “If I disappear without warning Amandia and Shewolf are going to be upset! They don’t get any time with me as it is, and what little time they do get with me its spent answering there questions and helping them! Is it that you don’t want me around? Are you trying to make them hate me?” I could feel the frustrated tears burning in my eyes
“Moro we aren’t sending you away because we don’t love you, we love you dearly, it’s just that you’re needed on Gaia, as an ambassador of the moon.” Mother said gently
I didn’t want to hear it. Turning I stormed out of the great hall. The doors boomed open. Followed shortly by the glass doors of the palace slamming open and shut. Of course Amandia and Shewolf followed me. But I didn’t care, I wanted to be alone.
I began to run, and left my sisters behind, until I came to the fountain we had. Mother always said the water in this fountain was the water of Peace. Which is why whenever I was upset id always go there, and it always worked. The water sounded like it sang the most beautiful tranquil song. I sat there listening to its sad song while I contemplated what mother and father had said.
Amandia caught up to me, panting. Shewolf climbed off Amandia's back and dropped to the ground walking over to me sitting beside me.
“Are you alright Moro?” Amandia asked between breaths.
I nodded wordlessly.
Now Shewolf may have been young, but she was intelligent.
“They’re sending you away again, aren’t they?” She asked looking up at me with those earthen eyes.
I hesitated before I could answer her, to pick her up and sit her in my lap. Her eyes glittered with the tears that grew in them, it killed me to know that she didn’t get the time she wanted to spend with me. I was thankful for my cold eyes hiding my thoughts and feelings else I would have been undone.
Shewolf buried her face into my shirt fisting her tiny hands in the cotton, and began to sob. Her tiny little body was shaking. I felt horrible because I couldn’t do anything but let her cry. After awhile the sobs stopped, when I looked down I saw shed cried herself to sleep. I couldn’t help but smile.
When I looked to Amandia she just stared at me, in disbelief. Her eyes questioned me. I didn’t have the answers to her questions so I got up and walked past her carrying Shewolf in my arms. I headed back to the palace, and soon arrived, after entering the palace I walked past mother and father, and went up the steps.
They watched me walk up the steps and disappear onto the next level. I turned a corner and walked down the corridor to Shewolfs nursery. Her room was a little girls’ dream, hand painted murals on the walls, and ceiling. The floor had a spell cast on it; the floor was carpeted by a thick soft green grass. The murals on the walls were of forests, save one, which had a waterfall. The walls even had spells on them, the waterfall seemed to run, a breeze shifted through the trees, the birds sung. The ceiling was a true work of art. When the lights were on, the room seemed to be lit up by the sun; the ceiling was blue clouds drifted across the sky mural. And when the lights were off, the sky was dark a moon that followed the cycles was high over head, stars twinkled in the sky, wispy clouds would drift over the moon once in a while.
Shewolfs bed was also a work of art. It was a wrought iron bed, that had been made to look like flowers and a vine plant had grown to make her a place to sleep, and again by the use of magic when the lights were on, the flowers would open and fill the room with their sweet smell. During the night the vine would blossom and a flower known as the “star light” would open and glow faintly giving shewolf a bit of comfort. I laid her in the bed, leaving the lights off, and tucked her in, after detangling her from my shirt.
I stayed there for awhile watching her sleep. She looked so peaceful, so happy. As I watched her sleep I imagined what she would look like when she got older. I imagined she would look like mother; about five foot tall, beautiful auburn hair falling down her back, deep loving eyes and fair skin. I smiled gently; my baby sister was going to be the second most beautiful woman in the world.
I don’t know how much time passed, I didn’t care. I could hear someone coming up the steps down the hall, walk down the hall and stop at Shewolfs room. Turning I saw father standing there. Without a word I looked back to Shewolf, watching the little angel sleep.
After a little while he hadn’t moved, he just stood there silently watching me.
“What do you want?” I asked icily
“I just wanted you to know that I’m not sending you to Gaia…yet.”
“Key word is yet” I muttered
“What? Speak up!” he snapped
“Nothing, never mind, forget I said anything.” I retorted
Then I heard one of the most terrifying sounds ever, Amandia, yelling my name in terror.
