This is a detailed guide to making your character for a simple quags game. First you roll a 20 sided dice 5 times. Each time you divide your number by 2 and add 6 to it. So first Ill roll 5 20 sided dice.
[dice=20] [dice=20] [dice=20] [dice=20] [dice=20][rand=9209664628946237138950826102466064055130104631157260904733157342]

18 divided by 2 = 9 + 6 = 15 When dividing an odd number just add one first. 6 divided by 2 = 3 + 6 = 9 4 divided by 2 = 2 + 6 = 8 20 divided by 2 = 10 + 6 = 16 (The highest value) 14 divided by 2 = 7 + 6 = 13
Next you attribute these to your words.

15 16 9 8 13
You want your body number to be pretty high so I'm using 16 Body: 16 HP: 16 (Equal to your body number) Brain: 9 Nerve: 8 Job: Survival : 13 Now your gimmick is something that isn't common, or perhaps an unusual trait. Being trained in climbing and being able to do it in record time are 2 different things. Your character is supposed to be really good at this particular trait or skill. Gimmick: Lightning Reflexes : 15 Your weakness is something that really screws you up, you have almost no control over it, sometimes its ironic based on the story or a little funny, but it should hinder you at some point in the world of the story. Weakness: Scaredy Cat : 15 (Equal to your gimmick)
This setup is usually how a character goes. If your an intelligent person who has info about many things you probably want a higher brain value. If your a strong warrior or something you probably want the nerve to rush into the battle.
Now if your story can make use of it, characters can include 3 skills that many people would have, but your character is just good at through practice. The three must have a cascade of +1.
Climbing +3 Running +2 Jumping +1
These skill numbers add their value to your dice rolls appropriate word when you roll for it. So when I roll for climbing, that's a body roll. Instead of 16 and less, I can roll 19 and less.
Next is a little bit trickier.

For a more detailed and involved game/rp, your character needs concept. Think about thinks like where your character is in this world, their background, their beliefs and values, thier strengths and flaws, their personality, and finally goals and motivations. Sometimes what appears to be a hero, is really just a man out to get some reward, not interested in rather or not he accidentily kills innocents in his quest to "Slay the dragon" or whatever your doing.
Here are some archetypes to Give you some detailed basis to your character.
The Hero: The Hero is the main protagonist (good guy) of the stroy. Since every player character should be a central character, it makes sence that every character will in some way fit this archetype. Even if your character usually fits one of the other archetypes (Like mentor for example) there are going to be some stories and sub-plots in which he plays the central role. Even if you plan your character to fill a "supporting role" most of the time you should still consider what type of hero they will be when its your time. The basic Hero's are listed below.

Th Champion: This is your basic, garden-variety hero. He wants to do good and make the world safe for democracy, simply because its the right thing to do. He is moral, capable, and pure. Most young heros start out life wanting to be champions, but many switch to other hero types upon discovering that the world is a cruel, dirty, dangerous place. Still, some characters manage to remain champions through strong faith, sheer force of will, or self-delusion.
Example: Luke Skywalker

The Reluctant Hero: Unlike the champion, the reluctant hero doesnt really want to go out and risk his life. unfortunately, he doesnt get much choice in the matter. He may be "the chosen one", the only person who can do the job, or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Given the choice, the reluctant hero would rather stay home and watch tv, be he knows that sometimes a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.
Examples: The chosen one: Frodo The gay love interest: Samwise Gamgee

The Crusader: As the name implies, this type of hero is out to further some cause that he believes in. Ending crime, converting the infidels, saving the enviroment, killing a huge fu*king shark, whatever. Unlike the Champion, the Crusader rarely acts out of simple altruism. He usually has personal reasons for doing what he does, and is not necessarily interested in doing good if it doesnt further his own goals. Crusaders who let their dedication to the cause outweight good judgment can easily become Anti-Heroes
Examples:The crime fighter: Batman The culture hero: George Washington The (insert noun) in search of the truth: Fox Mulder (From X-Files)

The Anti-Hero: The Anti-Hero is a protangonist who does not necessarily possess the qualities generally associated with the Hero archetype. While all heroes will have flaws, the anti-Heros flaws are so extreme or prolific that its not entirely clear whether he even is one of the good guys. There are two primary subtypes of anti-hero: Comic and Tragic. The comic Anti-Hero fails to live up to the heroic standard due to incompetence. In most cases, the hero wants to do the right thing, but hes to bubblin, stupid, or cowardly to get the job done. The Tragic Hero, on the other hand, is more morally ambiguous. He fights the good fight, or at least thinks he does, but his motivations or methods are questionable. If your considering an Anti-Hero pc, make sure that hes not just another bad guy. Without some redeeming qualities, it will be hard for the other players to justify keeping him around.
Comic example: The gay robot: C-3PO Tragic example: Vigilante: The Punisher

The Mentor: The mentors job is to guide the Hero through his quest. While the traditional mentor is a wise old guy with a beard wearing a big sign that says "I'm Gonna Die" this is not strictly required. Any character who teachs the Hero, helps him make important decisions, or helps him learn more about himself and his destiny, is basically fulfilling the mentor role. If your thinking about playing a mentor, keep in mind that your job is not to command the other party members. Instead your character should share his insights, experience, and knowledge, but ultimately let the others make their own decisions.
Examples:The wise old gray bearded doomed guy: Obi-Wan Kenobi The Shamen: Yoda
(Gandalf is an example here as well but he better fits another type)

The Herald: The Heralds main role in the story is to get things moving by delivering a message, issuing a challenge, or whipping out a prophecy. The herald often appears only at the beginning of the story, but may occasionally tag along with the Hero (Usually as a Mentor, Shapeshifter, or fool).
Examples: The messenger: R2D2 The boss: M (from the league of extordinary gentlment) The rcruiter: Agent K (Old guy in men in black 1)

The Threshold Guardian: The Threshold Guardians job is to test the heros abilies and worth. He may be good, bad, or just doing his job, and doesnt even have to be an actual character. Any obstacle that the hero has to overcome to continue his Journey is a type of Threshold Guardian. Threshold Guardians can occasionally be befriended and persuaded to join the Hero, at which point they often take on annother archetype.
Examples: The Gate Keeper: Cerberus The Riddler: Gollum The challenger: Sir Lancelot The temptress:The siren The atomic Monster: Godzilla

The Shapeshifter: The shapeshifter is a character whose real loyalties and goals are constantly being questioned by the hero. His goal is often to lure the hero to his doom, or destiny. Playing a shapeshifter character can be very rewarding, but as a player you must accept the fact that your character will never be fully trusted by the rest of the players, and that theres a good chance you will get abandoned or even killed during the course of the story. Shapeshifters will often disguise themselves as Tricksters.
Examples: The shady Ally: Han Solo The enemy turned ally: The Terminator The wizard who's secretly a god or something: Gandalf

The Trickster: The Tricksters job is to provide comic relief and, when necessary, keep the hero's ego in check. Despite his humorous nature, the Trickster can occasionally be insightful or even heroic. The key thing to remember when playing a Trickster character is that there needs to be a reason for the other characters to keep him around. If your character just causes trouble and annoys people the players are going to get tired sooner or later.
Example: The challenged Guy: TIMMY! (or Timmahhhhh)

The Shadow: The Shadow knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men. Wait, thats a different Shadow--for archetype-type purposes, the shadow is basically an evil twin who represents the Hero's dark side. The Shadow is almost always one of the bad guys, though he was usually once a friend of the Hero (relatives are also very common). Still, its occasionally possible for the shadow to be an actual protagonist. If you want to play a character of the Shadow Archetype, you must accept the fact that your character is most likly doomed from the start.
Examples: The thing the hero will become if he screws up: Darth Vader The Traiter: Judas (rated out jesus)
